Feeling good about the future of credit unions ...

One of the things I noticed most at the Wisconsin Credit Union League’s annual meeting last week was the number of young people attending.  Yea, I’m a little long in the tooth but I think The League’s efforts to reach out to our future leaders is working. I met some incredibly bright and interesting young credit union people over the course of a couple days. I found myself energized and feeling good about our future. These future credit union leaders get it.

They get that credit unions are on the right side of the fight to inform, educate and empower consumers. They get that there’s an opportunity out there for credit unions to differentiate themselves from the banks and that the planets have never been so aligned as they are now for credit unions to get it done.  The young people leading the charge are young turks like Brent Dixon, Matt Davis, George Hofheimer and Ben Rogers. Rob Wright, Brad Garland, Carla Day and Amanda Thomas. Tim McAlpine and Doug True, too.

Brent, Matt and George joined us in Wisconsin.  They rocked. They invigorated this credit union soul. If they come to your town – if any of these young credit union advocates come to your town – go see them.  Find their blogs. Follow them on the social networks.

And listen to them.
